Daily foot inspections and foot care are important to prevent injuries. People with diabetes are at increased risk to develop problems because of their diabetes.
However, as always, prevention is the best medicine and a good daily foot care routine will help keep your feet healthy.
It is suggested that you have your feet checked by your Doctor or a Foot Care Professional one time a year. Some of the ways you can find a Foot Care Professional close to you are:
- You can search The College of Chiropodists of Ontario or the Ontario Podiatric Medical Association for Foot Care Professionals close to you.
What’s the difference between a Chiropodist and a Podiatrist? Both can treat your feet but a Chiropodist is a Health Care Professional who assesses and manages foot disorders, while a Podiatrist is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine who has highly specialized training in foot care.
- The Central West CCAC can provide a list of Foot Care Professionals close to where you live.
